With Apple\u2019s next major presentation approaching, the iPhone 18 Pro is starting to take shape<\/strong>. Anyone expecting a complete aesthetic revolution may be disappointed, but three changes could still make the new generation relatively easy to distinguish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Current information points to an iPhone 18 Pro that retains the overall design introduced with the iPhone 17 Pro. Apple appears to be focusing on details instead: a more uniform back, a noticeably smaller Dynamic Island, and new colors<\/strong>, including a Dark Cherry finish that could become the signature option of this generation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A much more uniform back<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The most subtle change could ultimately be the one that improves the iPhone\u2019s appearance the most.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the iPhone 17 Pro, Apple adopted a large camera plateau stretching across much of the phone\u2019s width. That significant redesign also introduced a combination of glass and aluminum that created a fairly noticeable two-tone effect<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the iPhone 18 Pro, that contrast is expected to become less pronounced. According to information attributed to leaker Instant Digital, Apple has reportedly reworked the rear glass to reduce the color difference between it and the aluminum section. Other supply-chain reports point in the same direction, suggesting a visually more consistent finish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is not really a new design. Apple seems to be refining what looked like a minor aesthetic weakness of the previous generation. In my view, that makes sense: the large camera plateau already gives the Pro models a strong identity, so there is little reason to redesign everything after just one year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Dynamic Island is finally getting smaller<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This is probably the most interesting change on the front<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Dynamic Island debuted with the iPhone 14 Pro in 2022, and its dimensions have barely changed since then. With the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max, it is expected to become around 35% smaller<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apple could achieve this by moving some Face ID components beneath the display. Several reports suggest, however, that not every component required for facial recognition will be hidden under the screen. In other words, a simple camera punch-hole does not appear to be happening yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Instead, the available information points toward a still-centered but significantly more compact Dynamic Island<\/strong>. Some infrared Face ID components could move beneath the panel while the selfie camera and other sensors remain visible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For me, this is more interesting than another camera redesign. On a device used every day, recovering a little extra screen space while retaining Face ID may look insignificant on a specification sheet, but the visual difference could be immediately noticeable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dark Cherry could replace Cosmic Orange<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Apple also appears to have learned something from the iPhone 17 Pro: Pro models do not necessarily need conservative colors<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the attention-grabbing Cosmic Orange, 2026 could bring Dark Cherry<\/strong>. The finish has been described as a blend of burgundy, coffee and deep purple. Silver and Light Blue are also expected, while reports of a very dark Space Gray-like or black option remain less consistent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The choice makes sense. The orange iPhone 17 Pro showed that a bolder color can work on a premium smartphone. A deep red finish would allow Apple to continue experimenting without making the device excessively flashy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Evolution rather than revolution<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Everything currently points toward a year of aesthetic refinement<\/strong>. Early information from accessory makers also suggests dimensions extremely close to those of the iPhone 17 Pro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That would hardly be surprising. After the substantial changes introduced last year, redesigning the iPhone again could be unnecessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The iPhone 18 Pro could therefore retain its familiar silhouette, large camera plateau and current sizes while feeling more polished. A smaller Dynamic Island and a more uniform rear finish may do more to modernize the device than an artificial change in shape.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apple may have another product for the real design revolution anyway: its first foldable iPhone is also expected around the September launch window.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apple appears to be finishing the work it started with the iPhone 17 Pro<\/strong>, refining the two-tone back and finally shrinking a Dynamic Island that has remained largely unchanged for several generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The real aesthetic transformation will probably arrive when Face ID and the front camera can disappear completely beneath the display.
