No major visual shock, no feature coming out of nowhere to transform the iPhone in two minutes. This is more of a maturity update, with many small refinements telling the same story: Apple wants to make its system smarter, more contextual and a little less rigid.

The main topic is obviously Siri AI. After years of trailing behind Google Assistant, Alexa and then the new generation of AI-powered assistants, Apple finally seems ready to turn Siri into something more than a simple timer launcher. In iOS 27 beta 3, the assistant becomes more expressive, more customizable and, above all, more connected to the user’s personal context. That is where things get interesting.

Siri AI becomes more ambitious, but Europe remains on hold

The big promise of Siri AI is to understand what is happening on the iPhone and act across multiple apps. Finding information in an old message, retrieving a photo described in natural language, summarizing content shown on screen or querying certain third-party apps: Apple clearly wants Siri to become an assistant that works inside the system, not just above it.

Beta 3 also adds settings around voice, with options to customize rhythm and expressiveness on compatible models. A small but telling detail: after installation, Apple Intelligence components may need to be downloaded again, which can temporarily make Siri AI unavailable. It is not very glamorous, but it is typical of a beta that is still under construction.

The real sensitive point, especially for users in Europe, remains availability. Because of the DMA, Apple does not plan to launch Siri AI on iPhone and iPad in the European Union at the release of iOS 27. That is frustrating, because one of the most important features of this software generation could arrive later here. And this time, it is not a minor cosmetic option that can be ignored.

Safari becomes smarter

Safari also benefits from iOS 27 by becoming less passive. Automatic tab organization by topic is exactly the kind of feature that seems minor until you end up with 47 pages open for three weeks. Apple Intelligence can group similar tabs to make browsing easier to read.

Another clever addition is Notify Me, a feature that can monitor a web page and alert the user when a change appears. It is not designed for flash sales that disappear in thirty seconds, but for tracking a price, availability or a page that is updated regularly, it is very useful.

Safari also goes further with personalized extensions. The idea of describing what you want to do, then letting the system suggest or create a suitable extension, shows Apple’s new philosophy: integrate AI into ordinary actions without necessarily placing a huge “AI” button everywhere.

AirPods become a little easier to fine-tune

AirPods receive a simple but welcome improvement. Adaptive Audio gains more direct controls to adjust the balance between noise cancellation and transparency. Before, users had to dig through Bluetooth settings. Now, the adjustment is more accessible from the earbuds’ settings.

It is exactly the kind of detail that changes real-life use. On the subway, at the office or in the street, nobody wants to go through four menus to change the level of sound filtering. Apple is not inventing a new product category here, but it is making an existing feature more pleasant to use.

Liquid Glass tones down and the system feels more coherent

On the interface side, Apple continues to refine Liquid Glass. Reflections become more discreet, some icons have been reworked and the Reminders app adopts a lighter presentation. It is not spectacular, but it is reassuring. Early versions of a new visual language often tend to do a bit too much. Here, Apple seems to be reducing the showcase effect to improve readability.

Control Center also displays more network information, even when the iPhone is connected to Wi-Fi. Shortcuts gains an option to return more easily to manual editing, without always going through natural language input. Here again, Apple is looking for the right balance between automation and control.

Accessibility gains a true feature for the future

The most underrated new feature may be Live Recognition. This function uses the camera and on-device AI to describe the environment or answer questions about what is visible. For visually impaired users, the potential is huge. For everyone else, it also offers a glimpse of what the iPhone could become: a device capable of understanding the world around it, not just displaying apps.

My take on this beta

iOS 27 beta 3 does not feel like an immediate revolution. It does, however, confirm that Apple is preparing an important transition: the iPhone is becoming more contextual, more voice-driven and more automated. The paradox is that European users may see this transformation with some features disabled at launch. And for an update centered on Siri AI, that inevitably changes the perception.

FAQ

When will iOS 27 be released?

The final version of iOS 27 is expected in autumn 2026, after the developer beta and public beta phases.

Will Siri AI be available in France?

Not at launch on iPhone and iPad in the European Union. Apple says the rollout is delayed because of the DMA.

Which iPhones will benefit most from iOS 27?

The most recent models, especially iPhones with more RAM, should benefit from the most advanced Siri AI features.

Do the AirPods improvements apply to all models?

Advanced settings related to Adaptive Audio will depend on compatible models, mainly recent AirPods that already support these modes.

Should you install the iOS 27 beta?

On a main iPhone, it is not ideal. A beta can cause bugs, unstable battery life or less reliable apps.

Apple is continuing to polish iOS 27, and this third developer beta gives a fairly clear idea of the direction taken this year.
